Bill VanGorder is Chief Policy Officer and Chief Operating Officer for C.A.R.P - A New Vision of Aging for Canada and was the Founding Chair of (2007) of the CARP Nova Scotia Chapter. He is the immediate Past Chair of the Nova Scotia Advisory Committee on Seniors’ Issues to the Provincial Government (The Group of Nine) on which he has served for the past 12 years; Past Chair of the Serving Seniors Alliance Cooperative and longtime Board Member of the Theatre Arts Guild.
Bill has been involved in fraud prevention for over 20 years as the co-founder of CARP’s ABCs of Fraud project aimed at working with older Canadians to recognize, report and stop financial and other scams.
As the senior staff person of CARP’s national office, Bill leads this national, non-partisan, non-profit organization that advocates for financial security and improved health care for Canadians as we age. With over 330,000 members and 27 chapters across Canada, CARP plays an active role in the creation of policy and legislation that impacts older Canadians. CARP operates under a unique business model. Through its affiliation with Zoomer Media, CARP has access to multiple media platforms. Advertisers interested in reaching CARP’s audience provide a full slate of benefits to members, effectively covering the cost of membership. CARP advocates on behalf of older Canadians with all levels of government and collaborates with other organizations on health, ageism, housing and financial issues.
